The Olive Press Olive Harvester Takeuchi Tracked Loader TL12-v2

Award-winning olive processing plant The Olive Press from Martinborough approached Central Group to facilitate the setup and optimisation of their new olive harvesting machine. They were looking for a new machine to increase the productivity of their operations, and increase the volume of production they can process and pick in each season, which will improve their ability to press and output more top-quality olive oil products. Wade Lorimer stepped in to work directly with chairman Rod Lingard to coordinate the arrival of their new Takeuchi TL12V2 Track Loader with the arrival of their new SICMA 7m harvesting attachment they had ordered direct from Italy.

Wade helped Rod identify the best machine to suit the job by talking to the SICMA team, reviewing spec sheets, and talking to our product expert Alex Hacker. By looking at the system Alex suspected that the hydraulic system in the TL12v2 might be able to fully integrate with the attachment and make the harvesting process much smoother without having to use two separate control units.

Alex facilitated the technical connection and fit-up for Wade by traveling from Christchurch to Wellington to work through the details connecting the Hydraulic system and electrical controls with the harvester while preserving its ability to connect back to its original controller as a redundancy backup. Through this integration, Alex has saved their team space in the cab, and operator time by making the controls part of the existing controls.

The result for The Olive Press was impressive. Wade and Alex were able to help Rod choose the best machine to work with the SICMA attachment, as well as coordinate the fit-up and integration of controls to customise the gear for their work. And all of this was achieved in just three days of receiving the attachment.

Our Team love to fully integrate attachments and equipment for our customers! Alex recently helped Wade fully integrate this SICMA fruit harvester from Italy with the TL12v2 for The Olive Press. What this means is that the large controller unit that came with the attachment is now the backup unit with the cab joysticks and switches now set up for the operator to use the attachment easily and comfortably from the existing Takeuchi control system. The additional option of High flow and standard flow shaker control for the unit allows for more power if they need it when they find a larger or bigger tree, which when combined with the SICMA pressure controls gives them a great balance of power and care when managing the overall health of the trees in their orchids.
