Advanced Siteworks and NZEG – Takeuchi Partnership
Advanced Siteworks is owned and operated by Stacy “Stace” Diamond and Phil “Buck” Milson, established back in 2012. We spoke to Buck recently about his business and the business’ recent purchase of three Takeuchi excavators, a TB217, a TB370 new generation – the 1st 300 series machine sold in NZ and the 15-ton model – TB2150R.
Two machines have been delivered and are now working on multiple sites around Wellington and a 15-ton machine will be delivered in July.
Buck is a builder by trade and started his working life in his father’s business. Thirty years ago, he “hung up” his hammer and went to work in the earthworks industry. The business is experiencing high growth and demand for services – with current contracts at Aro Living, Wellington Children’s hospital, Mary Potter Hospice and 15 other contracts around the Wellington and Manawatu region. A key part to doing business is having the right machine for the job, and minimum downtime due to machine breakdowns.
Although Buck has used Takeuchi excavators previously, this is the first time he has purchased these excavators. The improvements to the machine, a good supply of parts and the capabilities of the Central Group to service the machines, were important factors he considered when committing to the Takeuchi brand. Buck believes Takeuchi is one of the best machines available globally, especially for smaller range of excavators.
Wade Lorimer, National Equipment Manager @NZEG has kept in touch with Buck at each of the stages through to the delivery of the machine to Advance Siteworks. “Wade is great at communicating and I like the way he calls a spade a space”. Communication is an important part of how Buck works and what he expects from his suppliers. One of the machines has just completed its scheduled service, Buck had nothing but praise for the servicing team @centralgroup– rather than just changing the filters the team did a full grease – above and beyond what Buck expected.
Buck and Stace have an important philosophy for their business – No mahi, no mana. Work hard and you will see the results. The business currently employs a team of approximately 15 staff. The business could double in size but a key part to how the business operates is to keep it personal in all areas – ie, how he works with his customers and suppliers as well as knowing all his staff and their families.
While it was pouring with rain on the day we talked to Buck, he says he still likes to get out on site, even on wet days, jump on a [Takeuchi] machine and help the team.
NZEG loves working with businesses like Advanced Siteworks which have smart owners and operators. All the best with your machines Buck, and all your business endeavours.
